My Heart Will Coron

My Heart Will Coron

That pun intended blog post title cracks me up :p but seriously my heart will go on and on for Coron. Superb and loved every bit of this trip and so we want to share it with you guys too, “Kaja let’s go to Coron!”

14333136_10207460321290810_137577437110223455_n.jpgOur awaited 2nd wedding anniversary trip has arrived, this time John planned the whole trip and it was a smooth one. No hassles from our flights, accommodations and tours, it was an adventure-filled, tiring yet rewarding celebration we had. A couple like us needs a break away from it all and what awesome place to spend our special day on this gem, truly one of Philippine’s treasure.14292373_10207460323290860_6035196113934276738_n.jpg

Getting there

Via Air – Most commercial flights can take you to Busuanga, Coron, travel time takes about an hour. Then from Francisco B. Reyes airport, you can ride a van going to town proper which will take you another 30-40 minutes travel time. It’s more convenient though if you will arrange airport transfers from your chosen accommodation.14374795_10207476734381127_1853131972_o.jpgVia Ship – 2Go travel also offers direct trips from Manila port to Coron port, this will take you 12 hours or more of travel time. I must say, we have yet to experience this kind of trip haha though it will eat up more of our free time.

Accommodation and Tours

14374580_10207476712180572_19329496_o.jpgCoron Ecolodge was our chosen accommodation, we also booked our tours with them for convenience. I took a photo of their brochure, click the photo to view the details.

14359802_10207476712020568_1185524586_o.jpgRates starts at Php 1,648.00 per night for 2 pax, with free breakfast. What we loved about this place is it’s location, clean and cool rooms, unli-coffee, excellent customer service from online inquiries up to your check-out, arranged tours are organized too.

14315707_10207476712620583_1933444465_o.jpgKudos to Coron Ecolodge for doing such a great job, we definitely enjoyed our hassle-free stay and would love to check-in with your place if we’ll visit Coron again. Kajaletsgo is not affiliated with Coron Ecolodge but may we say some commendations about them since they deserve it. 🙂

Coron Town Tour

This tour was on our 1st day, it usually starts at 4:00pm to avoid getting sunburned on the itineraries and you’ll have a perfect time to end it with a sunset while dipping in the hot-spring. Town tour will take you to Lualhati Park, Coron Souvenir Shop, Mount Tapyas, Maquinit Saltwater Hot-spring.14199399_10206809232459995_9171195063194147804_n.jpg14183844_10206800701246720_3764522399503087062_nDon’t forget to bring your drinks or light snacks when going up to Mount Tapyas. Getting there is tolerable, you’ll have to take the 721 steps, stairs to the max. Then it’s best to go to Maquinit Hot-spring before sunset and the place has restroom but no shower rooms available. 14333658_10207460270289535_1591618738021561523_n

BPI and PNB Savings Bank are the 2 banks that I saw at the town. Getting around the town is easy, it’s a Php 10.00/head tricycle ride from your hotel, just tell the driver where you want to go. Eating out and pasalubong at Coron is a bit pricey, during our stay we dine at Lolo Nonoy’s Food Station, and we bought our pasalubong at Coron Harvest and Coron Souvenir Shop. But I recommend going to Coron Souvenir Shop instead since they have wider-varieties and their prices are lower than Coron Harvest. 14316009_10207476712540581_1863010938_o.jpg

Coron Island Tour

14352147_10207460247888975_4905740264710646206_o.jpgThere are many island hopping tours to choose from but if you have a short-time and wanted to maximize the Coron’s highlights, I recommend availing the Coron Ecolodge’s Coron Island Tour (joiner). Starts at 8:30am to 5:00pm with included lunch, don’t forget to rent your aqua shoes (Php 150.00 per pair) and snorkeling items (Php 150.00 per head) you can find these stores near the port.

This tour will take you to Kayangan Lake, Smith Coral Garden, Banul Beach, CYC Beach, Balinsasayaw Floating House, Twin Lagoon. The weather during the island hopping is unpredictable so make sure you have dry-bags or water-proof your gadgets.

CYC Beach

What we loved most on the tour are Kayangan Lake, Twin Lagoon and snorkeling at Balinsasayaw despite the heavy rains, it’s another one of a kind experience we had. I won’t go into details of the itineraries, but I will just provide the photos taken per location.

Twin Lagoon

Estimated Budget

  • Accommodation & Tour Package – Php 7,896.00 (for 2 pax)
  • Tricycle Rides – Php 300.00
  • Food, Pasalubong – Php 3,000.00

14233158_10206815598539143_6715068597917449866_n.jpgAs of now, Coron is the best Philippines destination we’ve been to. If we get the chance to book another Busuanga flight, we’d love to try the other island hopping tours especially Malcapuya island. This place never runs out of surprises and awesomeness that makes you think if you’re really here in the Philippines haha. Sometimes, I also envy the locals since they are near these lovely spots and they all look so laid-back in this charming town.

We’re already missing you Coron.14360365_10207476712660584_485590285_o
